  • Being grateful for what you have.

Last friday 06 April 2007 the Braamfisherville Centre for Disabled will not forget for a long time. Keleni in Assosiation with our Home Cell organised Lunch and entertainment by a choir called Surrender.

The purpose of the day was to share the significance of the day and of cource to sacrifice our comfort zone(the usual lunch with family, pickled fish and hot cross buns) and bless those less fortunate.

The group was so pleased with Lunch as many of them had not had a decent meal in a long time. They requested tools to make some furniture and thanks to our sponsors (Alf and Val) you guys are a blessing.Zodwa's leg was amputated at a public hospital and was then given an artificial leg that is not suitable for her weight and she has been in pain for the last 4 years. Thanks to Mrs Golding and Ivan from Golding's Orthopeadic Centre Zodwa will be getting a brand new leg.

Just after Lunch when they least expected to be entertained the choir (Surrender) came with some great songs to make everybody dance,Thank you guys.

We blessed them with some biscuits, juice and some Mielie meal for the meetings thanks to Pick n Pay's ,Zita and Sunshine Super Market and not forgeting Vaughn Bishop from Supersport Let's play for the T-Shirt,your commitment to our communities is much needed.I thank God for the all the blessings, To our Home Cell, my Wife Renee and kids you guys are my strength thank you very much for your support.

Braamfisherville centre for the disabled has many needs, should you be intrested to help, email us at Keleni,we will continue assisting those less fortunate.

  • Know your political rep in your area!

I am aware that people vote for politicans by just seeing their photo's during local government election times and then never again do they see these politicians.
When service delivery is not met by the local government, people start complaining and ofcourse it's their rights, but what iam suggesting is get to know your politician and what their plans are for your ward.

Recently 5 yrs (Intergrated Development Plans) plans were discussed, New transport system and plans were discussed by the City and Residents of the city were invited. The turn out in the most of these arrears was poor, most of my friends and community members did not even have an intrest in further plans for the arrears and how it impacts their properties.

To get involved does not cost you much time, may be 1 day per month. please get involved and South Africa will not succeed if all of it's people don't work together.

NGO's/NPO's need some Volunteers, what supprises me more often is the high unemployerble, unskilled and uneducated individuals who are looking for work and at the moment they are not doing anything to help in their communities and in turn get skill and build up references.

Lastly if you are not involved in building the community you live in who must do it for you?

  • Why have you given up?

A high % of people don't like their career choices, very often they hate their jobs.

Many youngsters need role models, they are not sure what the big bad world has in store for them, your participation will help.

I remember growing up with friends dreaming about what we want to become when we are big. Most of us never achieved it atleast not yet.
Let's be honest, Are you living your dreams? are you lost?or at a pit stop and you got stuck?

Things that hold you back could it be: New family? Debt? Lack of skill? Earn too little? competion with the jones? Poor planning? or lazziness?

    Are your dreams worth it?

Let me share with you my 5 tips to help should you get stuck .
-Excercise your body and your mind(read personal development books,cd's) need it regularly.
    -Plan your day,every minute counts.
    -Be organised/focused
-Find people who can help you.
-Dump those who waste your time.

Ask anyone who is successful it just does not come easy.So try these points there more you do it the more it becomes a lifestyle and it then seems achievable.

    Let me know your thoughts.
